Subject: [presidentshousequilts] FW: Invitation to view "ATAC's Tour of Presidents House:Their Untold Stories In Quilts" photographs

Hi Everyone: I hope I can send this link this way so you can all see the grand time we had last week when Avenging The Ancestors Coalition (ATAC) visited our quilts.  Laura Elam, ATAC's photographer took all of these.  Asake Jones, Susan Levering, Belinda Fields, Sally Poulshock and myself talked about our quilts.  The response to our quilts was amazing and heartfelt.  We toured all three venues although Laura only photographed at NCC.  Enjoy!-Michelle

Still Hand Piecing my hexagon . . .

This is another unusual GREEN... 9-patch set with folded flowers.....    The hand piecing is also very quick and easy...

I just can't get right back to my cathedral window quilt because of the multiple layers... the hard thread pulling it takes... and the slow, slow, slow pace in which it flows.   Only thing is that my quilter friend said when I finish my cathedral window... there is no need to add batting --- no need to quilt it.  When it's done... its beautifully done!!!

“Few of us can escape the primeval sentence that we shall live by the sweat of our brows, but all of us, even though our lots be cast in scenes of isolation and hardship, where books and music and art are little known, and perhaps a common schooling not always be had, may reach out for themselves and rise above the daily grind of household duty to seek for the beautiful and claim it for our own.”

Antique Pattern Library is an invaluable resource with an amazing collection.

"This ongoing project is an effort to scan needlework pattern books that are in the public domain, to preserve them, so we can keep our needlework heritage in our hands. These scans have been photo edited to make them more useful for needle workers, and to reduce file sizes. They are available, for free, to anyone who wants them, for educational, personal, artistic and other creative uses."
