These are a few of my favorite things !

My mother used to refer to me as a chickadee .. so the green tint, hand painted item was my match to the January Royal Albert cup and saucer!  And then I saw pretty hankercheif dollies for an accent item!
My new blogger friend at Rose Chintz Cottage noted.... "Life should be savoured; sipped like a cup of tea.  (Author unknown).  Oh so true.... must I wait until January ~ my birthday month or not?  Not!!
So.... I make a wonderful sale on 19 pieces of Royal Albert China....  something I'd never heard of.  But the garage sale - sale price was $40.00!  (picture below)
Lady said "Yes, I was with my aunt the summer in England when she bought this set..."

The single pieces I'm buying, collecting are costing a bit of a penny in comparison to my great garage sale hit!
Now, for the dainty, peaceful tea sipping days.....  I have long been drawn to the huge, magnificent, muscular, survivalist instinct, the face and eyes, the body always leaning forward..... The Buffalo.   It's even the state animal for my state of Oklahoma!

I think I'll run back to the Antique shop for this!

A quilt shadowbox! I'm lovin a good cuppa Tea, a pretty tea cup collection

I've got a new itch... to match my quiltin craze!

It's collecting great tea cup... to sip my afternoon tea!  Not just show and sittin pretty!
I first garage saled the Royal Albert pretty - gorgeous bone china.

Don't know if it was glaze coated or not.... I began to soak (overnight by mistake....in baking soda.... and now a new stain may be set in...???)   Anyhow - I Love it (bought the 6 pc Lavendar Rose setting cheap) !!  I'm gonna use it...yeah!!

But the latest cup sits low, larger round lip and my thumb is so comfortable.  It's porcelain... I like better a little weight in the finish of the cup.   What does RWO mean????

One Inch Square.... Ta Dahhhh !

So intriguing...
To start small and see a plant, a child.... or a quilt grow bigger... into maturity and/or completion!

A Split Nine-Patch Set on Point

Starting out by cuttin our 5 inch squares... in solid colors.   Actually, I'm led to cut up all my fabric stored in my stash boxes.  cut'em up and down to size:  up to 7 in square which would be used in HALF-SQUARE TRIANGLES ... 6 7/8inch squares matched with a white to create pinwheels or a real triangle colorful quilt!   Could be scrappy.... the merrier

The Split Nine patch is mixed with 5" black and white to offset solid colors..   Outstanding, eye-catching easy pattern purchased at 2013 OKC Quilt Show (January!)

Grits Le Passion Quilt

Hexie swap girlfriend "Grits Life' blogspot featured this (go check her out!) ... so I started last August 2013... I'm continuing on.

During my lunch hour breaks.... spread out on the floor.  I'll have to rearrange/sew some blue hexies to offset the three green ones.  They are all set in which and surrounded again by blue.

My fabrics will vary in shades. WHY?  because I seldom buy all fabric matching and seldom cut out all pieces.

As a black woman..... my inherent nature is take the the bits and pieces of my life (fabric)... just as I believe God sums up the bits and pieces of our scrappy lives.... in order to go along and look back and see a unique thing of beauty.

So... the patterns is seldom followed.... it becomes LE'Passionate Beverly!!!

I'm eyeballing the pattern... and making up my own method of joining the rows.

Dear Old Man.... Grandpa passes on! Peace Lilly Gifts

. . . .   “Top Ten Household Air Cleaning Plants.” This tropical plant breaks down and neutralizes toxic gases like formaldehyde and carbon monoxide inside its pores. While we all appreciate cleaner, oxygenated air, it’s also the easy Peace Lily care, resiliency and forgiving nature that makes them such popular house plants.

Monday's Quilt Gig !

My father-in-law passed away almost two weeks ago (3-25-2014) after we put our heart, home, and hands into continual care of him as a leukemia patient.

So after the stormy whirlwind..... Hubby and I are home alone.  Time and loneliness on our hands.  A wise girlfriend even said its OK ...  to be relieved that Papa is gone!  My blog and sewing room has taken a silent whipping..... the kids even stacked junk in my sewing room, closed the door.... when company came over!!!   OK???   well, I guess so.

But... It's Monday!  and I've rejoined my "girls" at the YMCA.   The Afrono Quilt Guild is made up of retired women who quilt twice a week.... from about 10:00 am to 3:00pm on Monday's and Fridays!!

That means I take a lunch hour (and a half) to drive 6-8 minutes over to the center!

I pulled out a box of greens.....threw the box in the back seat....
Spent a little less than an hour... ironing and laying out in order to cut 7" squares.

I think I'll do a triangle quilt... the pattern calls for 6 7/8" squares, place with a light fabric RST and sew a diagonal line.   Cut apart and I'll end up with two triangles!

To here's the first stack of green fabric out of the box (and yes, I'm color-coded!)

Hexie ~~ Word(s) of the Day! Epistolary Friendships

DEFINITION

adjective

1 :
of, relating to, or suitable to a letter

2 :
contained in or carried on by letters

3 :
written in the form of a series of letters

EXAMPLES

"Jonathan Franzen, with whom he had struck up an epistolary friendship, offered to get together that April when he was in Boston." — From D.T. Max's 2012 biography Every Love Story is a Ghost Story: A Life of David Foster Wallace

An epistle, an epistolary friendship

This somewhat explains the "Mail" received from hexie partners across the miles!    We have a series of letters and friendships in which we enclose a handstitched hexagon flower.

This explains why we pay the postage.... why we know the receiving party will smile and appreciate our efforts (timely - late)   !!!
